Hey Team Charlie,
Good news! I just got an email from Laura Goldberg at Alzheimer's Association MA, who informed me that since Team Charlie is the first team to recruit 5 riders and raise at least $100, we have won a gift certificate to Felt (it's a fancy billiards/nightclub downtown, see http://feltclubboston.com/). The gift certificate is good for a 2 hour pool party with appetizers for 20 guests (its value is $450). Maybe we could use it for a fundraising party?
Go Team Charlie!!!!

Training for inclement weather
Hi everyone! I read on the Memory Ride's website that last year "Torrential downpours and tornado threats didn't dampen the spirits of Memory Ride participants."So, I thought perhaps I should do some training to take this into consideration. Here's a picture of my ride from yesterday.
I found that the pointy hat was a good addition to my riding gear.

Blog has begun!
Ok all, here's the promised blog for our preparations for TEAM CHARLIE. According to the Memory Ride's website, we are already the third highest team. That's a lot of pressure to maintain this standing. Are we up to it????
In case you all did not see Nancy's email, here's a recap of her training journal:
Day 2 - on 4th dose of tylenol, and 2nd of Arnica, but able to walk upright this afternoon. Took nap as the leg muscle pain prevented a full night's sleep. Note to self - get more tylenol and arnica at the store...maybe more gin."
Well, while I can't officially recommend gin as a training protocol, it may have it's uses and benefits.
Ok, that's it for this entry. Really I was just trying to figure out how this works. I'll sign off for now, but if you haven't registered for our awesome team yet... slacker!
Bye!

"Day 1 - got the bike out, both tires flat flat flat. found the pump. Put on helmet and riding gloves. Looking pretty cool, yeah. Got on and tried to remember how to switch gears. After 50 yards, got off to replace chain on gears. After 2 miles, holding the gear shift lever in place so that it doesn't slip gears when I'm going uphill. After 8 miles...really wishing we'd brought water. 10 miles - I'm walking some of these gd hills. note to self - consider getting a bike that was made in this century.
