Saturday Ride

I just got back from a lovely morning ride: 10.1 miles, averaged 10.8 mph. I think in the grand scheme of things it was a pretty easy route, but not-so-easy for me. I gotta watch my potty mouth when I am going up hills - I may have frightened the golf course greens keeper. I tried using that mapping thing Ellie linked to, but couldn't figure out how to make the return route follow the same roads. If you look at this map and know where I live... I followed Cary route #3 to the Tarbert Loop, to the Three Lakes/MacGregor Loop and then back home. http://www.townofcary.org/depts/dsdept/P&Z/bicycleplan/bicyclemap.pdf. I didn't have to get off and walk even once! That was a first.

Anyway, time to jump in the tub!

Way to go Polly! It does get easier as you do more riding.

If you do a "there and back" route on Map It Pronto, you just click right next to but not right on the blue line from the ride out to your end point. What's nice about using this tool is you can see the elevation of your ride and compare it to the Memory Ride.

Alright, I got it, but it was tricky.

The climbing wasn't as much as your ride to the museum, but it was a lot for me.

um...hate to brag, but did anyone see how well my fundraising is going? It's amazing.

I had no idea how moved I would be by my friends' generosity for this event. Matthew Finn (our waiter at Mom's birthday) and Sara Ivry sent the first two donations and when I got the notifications I sat down and cried. Seriously. It's so touching.

Oh, and by the way...I have missed two training sessions in the past week. So anyone (meaning hoot, ned and sarah) who wants to help me by pinning down some training times, by all means, let's use Polly's early morning ten-miler with uphill staying-on-the-bike discipline as inspiration!
